Many issues have been resolved on playgrounds, and many truces have been achieved. The world has seen fund raising tactics where famous singers gave performances to help people in need. But Pakistan will be the first country, where two warring politicians will play a cricket match to raise funds for the IDPs. The politically charged atmosphere in Pakistan is not very different from hostile countries ready to fight each other. The friendly match, orchestrated by ShahidAfridi for fundraising is a very pleasant development. If it materializes, in the bitter political atmosphere it could bring about a great change. Since the country is in a state of war and is confronted with many internal and external challenges, I suggest that friendly gestures between the government and the opposition should not be a one-time display. They should not be limited to the IDPs only. But they should be continuous and their scope should widen to encompass the entire nation.
