KARACHI- An anti-polio drive failed to kick off in five union councils of the district West due to lack of security measures for polio teams. Anti-polio campaign was due to start today, in five high-risk zones of Karachi including Gadap, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Peerabad and Mominabad.

However, vaccinators could not make it to these areas due to absence of security . Polio vaccinators said that they were waiting for the district administration to provide adequate security so that the polio drive could begin. District West is one of the major high-risk zones of Karachi, where polio cases frequently surface, as children in these areas miss polio vaccinations due to militancy threats.
