LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that provincial government has started distribution of financial assistance to the displaced persons of North Waziristan and Rs7,000 is being given to each affected family.
Talking to the Punjab Assembly members from various districts, the chief minister said that the process of providing financial help would soon be completed in an efficient manner. He said that his government and people of the province were standing with the displaced persons in the moment of trial , promising that all out resources would be provided for their relief and rehabilitation.
The CM said that the provision of help to the IDPs would be continued till the success of war against terrorism and rehabilitation of the last displaced person. He said that millions of rupees were being deposited by philanthropists and affluent persons as well as general public in the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the help and assistance of the displaced compatriots.
Sharif said that the Punjab cabinet and the PML-N legislators had donated their one month’s salary, while government servants had deposited their one day’s pay in the Relief Fund. He said that every penny of donations was being spent honestly on the relief of the distressed people, assuring that his government would spare no effort for the return and complete rehabilitation of the IDPs.
The CM said that the federal government was also providing maximum resources to facilitate the displaced persons. He said that it is the responsibility of every citizen of the society to come forward and help the distressed people. He appealed to well-to-do persons for donation
