LAHORE - The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has called off holidays of its all field staff including senior officials in order to successfully implemented Eid plan issued with aim to ensure clean environment across the city during three days of Eidul Fitr mainly focusing mosques, Eid gaahs, commercial markets, graveyards and recreational places.
The field staff will observe Eid remaining alert in the field in three equal shifts. A zero waste operation will be carried out on chand raat in Ramazan Bazaars and city’s major commercial markets.
Special cleanliness arrangements will be made for Eid prayers at mosques and eid gaahs and lime will be applied to adjacent roads to give them a neat and clean look. Installation of some 300 customized waste bins in the markets is already in process which will be completed a day before Eid.
LWMC Managing Director Khalid Majeed held separate meetings with administration of Turkish companies Albayrak and Ozpak and has instructed them to ensure provision of resources for the effective implementation of Eid Plan.
He also instructed them to make sure timely repair and maintenance of operational vehicles before Eid to avoid any inconvenience. Mechanical sweepers and washers of both the companies will remain on the roads during all Eid Days for ensuring cleanliness of major roads.
In order to wish Lahorites the delights of big day and to sensitize them on their responsibilities towards maintenance of clean environment, awareness raising campaigns will be carried out at SOS village, Lahore Zoo, Jillani Park and Lahore Fort. Models camps will be setup at Badshahi Mosque, Masjid Wazeer Khan, Jamia Naeemia, Jamia Ashrafia and Masjid-e-Shuhda to effectively disseminate the word of cleanliness by the mouth of Ulema–e Ikram.
Meanwhile, caretakers of graveyards of the city, collaboration with LWMC have started cleaning of the graveyards in the city.
In this regard the an official of city district government said that the district admin already had given a cleaning plan of all the major the graveyards in the city especially focusing the Miani Sahib Graveyard which is the biggest graveyard in the city.
The district admin also directed the caretakers and officials concerned to personally monitor the cleaning process and ensure the cleaning plan successful.
