Rawalpindi - A proclaimed offender was allegedly killed in a police shootout whereas his brother was arrested by police here at Mohalla Hukamdad, sources informed The Nation yesterday.

The deceased proclaimed offender was identified as Sohail while his brother as Nasir. Both brothers were allegedly involved in a double murder case occurred in Waris Khan in 2005.

According to sources, Sohail and Nasir were going somewhere when two officials of Muhafiz Force tried to stop them in Waris Khan area. However, they managed to break the police escort. Muhafiz Squad officials Basit and Naeem started chasing the fleeing POs who opened fire at the police party. Police also retaliated, sources said adding that during exchange of fire, Sohail died on the spot whereas police nabbed Nasir and shifted him to police station.

A police officer told The Nation that Sohail was killed when a bullet fired by his brother Nasir hit him. He said that further investigation was on.

SHO police station Waris Khan could not be approached for his comments.

Separately, a man was murdered over cattle grazing issue in Chontra. According to police, the donkey of Tauqeer Ahmed grazed in the fields of Sultan Ahmed on which Sultan along with Sajid and Ahsan allegedly attacked house of Tauqeer and killed him.

Similarly, a 55-year-old man was killed due to accidental fire while cleaning his pistol. The deceased was identified as Riazul Haq.

Waris Khan police also found a dead body of an unknown man from a nullah. The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained till filing of this report. Police told that the man was shot dead and his corpse was thrown into a nullah.

On the other hand, Saddar Bairooni police registered a case against unknown gang of robbers who mugged gold and cash from seven houses in Dhoke Sharaf Din after spraying chemical on residents and their dogs on July 9, 2016.
