LAHORE (PR): StreetStore Islamabad, a student-run welfare organization committed to providing a dignified shopping experience to the poor, is going to set up its fourth premise-free, pop-up store, here in Samsani, Johar Town Lahore, on 17th of July (today). The efforts, this time, are dedicated solely to the great personality who needs no introduction – Sir Abdul SattarEdhi. About 1000 neat, clean, processed and packed clothes will be distributed among the needy in a way so as to provide them a dignified shopping experience. The efforts of prominent Pakistani philanthropist late Abdul SattarEdhi would be highlighted through this event. Edhi, who created a charity empire out of nothing, was the sole genius who masterminded Pakistan’s largest welfare organization.

Clothes were picked from donors, carefully processed and sort for any untidy pieces. Sorted clothes were pressed and then hung on hangers just like Original Streetstore Model. The underprivileged will be choosing their favorites from hanged specimens and will have their clothes tested against their sizes. People will then be allowed to take those clothes with them free of cost.

StreetStore Islamabad had its humble beginnings with a handful of people. Just within 4 months, StreetStore Islamabad grew immensely with over 100 volunteers. Student volunteers from universities such as NUST, COMSATS and Air University poured in great number and showed real dedication in cloth donation drives.

Till date, Streetstore Islamabad has provided a dignified shopping experience and distributed more than 6500+ clothes to numerous families living under the poverty line in Pakistan. The first event was organized on the occasion of the Valentine’s Day, 14th Feb in E11/D12. StreetStore Islamabad held its second event on the May 1st, which was in fact the Labour Day and around 4000 clothes were distributed. The third of the series of events came on the 4th of July where 400-500 people of Samsani, Johar Town enjoyed the shopping experience to make their Eid celebrations a lot more awesome.
