LAHORE - The Lahore Zoo yesterday marked the World Snake Day.

An event in collaboration with Vet Care Club was held at the zoo where non-venomous snakes like Indian Python, Ball Python were put on display for the public that was part of educating and awareness about snakes.

A number of schoolchildren also joined in. The Zoo staff informed the visitors about different kinds of snakes, and likely threat from them.

Punjab Wild Life and Parks Director General Khalid Ayaz Khan, Lahore Zoo Director and deputy director Zahid Ali, education officer Kiran Saleem were also present. The DG in his message said every animal has a certain role and to maintain the balance, every animal should be given opportunity to live.

Snakes are usually considered as dangerous animal but it is surprisingly to know according to an estimate, there are 3,000 creatures of snakes inhabited globally, and about 375 snake species are venomous and only small faction are dangerous to human beings.
