PM Mulk directs for free education to children

Caretaker Prime Minister Justice retired Nasir-ul-Mulk has directed to prepare a comprehensive and robust mechanism to provide free and compulsory education to all children of the age of five to sixteen years.

Chairing a briefing in Islamabad today (Tuesday), he gave instructions to implement Article 25-A of the Constitution in letter and in spirit to ensure child's right to education.

The Prime Minister also directed to accommodate the maximum number of youth from the victim families of Mastung incident in the existing training programmes of National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) enabling them to earn livelihoods and provide financial support to their families.

He was informed that the National Education Policy 2018 has been finalized and a National Curriculum Council has also been established for the purpose of standardization of the curriculum across the country.

Similarly, a national curriculum framework has also been developed which would serve as a model to bring uniformity in the curriculum.

It was informed that a new curriculum has been developed, at the federal level, for grade Pre-1 to grade VIII.

This new curriculum would be shared with the provinces helping them to revise and update the textbooks.
