Police have arrested a total of 40 accused wanted in recent blind murder, dacoity, burglary and theft cases in different parts of Mirpur district of AJK.

The police have also recovered the stolen property worth over Rs10 million from the custody of the arrested accused, revealed Mirpur SSP Ch Muhammad Amin. Unveiling the story about successful crackdown by the police against the criminals involved in recent serious offences across this district, Senior Superintendent Police told a news conference in his office here on Saturday that the accused were the most wanted for indulging in the crimes of serious nature including a blind murder reported in the city police station two blind murder cases in Afzalpur police station and one each of murder cases in Chakswari and Dadayal police stations in the district.

“Similarly the arrested accused were also wanted to the police in one famous dacoity case reported in Chakswari, 11 burglary and 23 cases of theft  registered with Police Stations of Mirpur city, Thothal, Mangla, Afzalpur, Islamgarh, Chakswari and Dadayl,” he said.

The SSP said that the city police have also recovered the stolen property worth over Rs1 million which was looted in the blind murder case lodged with the City police station few months back. Muhammad Amin said that the district police have moved challans of four of blind murder cases to the concerned courts of law for further trial. The other such case is under investigation for completion of the challan.

Elaborating, the district police chief said Rs4.07 million stolen goods were recovered from the arrested accused involved in 23 cases of robbery. Similarly, the stolen property worth about Rs1 million was recovered from the accused involved in eleven cases of burglaries and dacoities. The principal accused among 40 arrested by the police included Ehtesham son of Ashraf of Kala Dub, Akram son of Karamat Hussain  and Sajid son of Muhammad Sadiq of Khuiratta town of Kotli district, the SSP said.

He said that police also arrested three young accused for looting the sales representative of a mobile telephone company on 11th of this month (June 2013) and recovered the looted property and cash worth Rs175,000 from the custody of the accused.

To a question, the SSP said that majority of the arrested accused belong to different areas outside of AJK.

But they were allegedly provided with the logistic support by certain of local anti-social elements. The district police boss asserted that police was determined to eliminated the anti-social elements involved in various crimes in the district from their roots to enhance the sense of security among the masses across the district. An integrated strategy has been devised and implemented by the police to make the district clean of all sorts of crimes including to vanish the professional vagabonds, he maintained.
