PESHAWAR - Amid tight security arrangements, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will present over Rs 300 billion budget today (Monday) for the fiscal year 2013-2014.

A handsome allocation would be earmarked for education, health, security and energy sectors. KPK Finance Minister Sirajul Haq will present the budget at the provincial assembly at 4.00pm.

It has been learnt that in the next budget it has been proposed to minimise expenditures of Chief Minister House and Speaker House. Like the federal government 10 per cent increase in salaries of government employees has also been proposed. Moreover, PTI government which has claimed time and again to bring drastic changes in education and health sectors has earmarked a huge among for these sectors.

Keeping in view security and energy crisis, it has also been learnt that a handsome amount would also go to security and energy sectors respectively. The PTI-led government has also decided to continue people-friendly projects which have been launched by ANP government, for which, a huge amount would also be set aside.

Sources said that it would be tax-free budget and maximum relief would be given to the people of the province. Prior to unveil the budget for the year 2013-2014, Chief Minister Pervez Khattak will chair cabinet meeting. In the meeting, the cabinet will give approval of proposals for the provincial budget. Later in the afternoon, provincial assembly will meet, where KPK Finance Minister, Sirajul Huque will unveil the budget.

The budget session will meet amid tight security arrangements by deploying police personnel in and around the assembly building to avoid any untoward incident.
