ISLAMABAD -

Former pacer Sarfraz Nawaz has asked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to put an inquiry on captain Misbahul Haq and the team management for changing the opening combination of the team that disturbed the whole batting order in the Champions Trophy match against India. Opener players were Imran Farhat and Nasir Jamshed in their first two matches but in the third match they opened with Nasir Jamshed and Kamran Akmal. Sarfraz said it was because of the change in the opening combination that disturbed the whole batting order that cost Pakistan the match. Sarfraz questioned the PCB selection committee of why had they been including Shoaib Malik in the squad when he hasn’t scored a fifty even since September 2009.

“PCB should avoid nepotism and references while selecting the squad,” he said. Sarfraz wanted to know where the coach Trent Woodhill was. “I never saw or heard anything about him training the batsmen. If this is the way the PCB is going to run cricket, then God be with them,” he said.

He also requested the higher authorities to appoint an acting PCB chairman as soon as possible so that Pakistan can make its representation in the annual general meeting of the International Cricket Council (ICC) scheduled in London later this month.
