Four hurt as protesters stone train

FAISALABAD
As many as four train passengers were injured by angry people protesting against an operation carried out to retrieve railway land from their illegal possession here on Monday. The Railway authorities launched an operation to retrieve state land from the illegal occupants.  The operation was underway when a good number of residents of the colony gathered and stopped the train. They also pelted stones on the railway workers and authorities concerned due to which four people were injured.
Meanwhile, the police baton charged the protesters as a result three more people were injured. Later, the railway authorities went back with completing the operation against encroachment.  The railway sources told this scribe that illegal houses were constructed on the land of railway against which the railway authorities launched an operation but the residents of railway 'katchi basti' resisted and stopped Pakistan Express which was bond to Karachi from Rawalpindi through Faisalabad. The angry mob pelted stones on the train due to which four passengers were injured while the baton charge of police also injured three protesters.
The railway source said that the Railway authorities stopped the operation for the time being whereas some three houses were also demolished during the operation.
