ISLAMABAD - The Diamer-Bhasha Dam project is a lifeline for the national economy, which would help meet country’s future agricultural and power requirements. PML-N govt is ready to start construction work of the dam in near future and has allocated Rs15b in the budget of 2014-15 for acquisition of land for the dam.An official  said the Dam had three important objectives, which include flood-mitigation, power generation and storage of water. Replying to a question, he said the gigantic project would generate 4,500 MW of electricity and store over 4.7 million acre feet (MAF) of water to meet the country’s growing power and irrigation needs.
