LAHORE  - Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq said that his party was expecting democratic decision from a democratic government regarding military operation in North Waziristan, but he said unfortunately the government has disappointed them.

Talking to media after a JI meeting at Mansoora on Monday, he said that it was the duty of PM Nawaz Sharif to take into confidence national leadership before taking such a big decision. He said the political parties had given the government the mandate of holding talks with the TTP, but the rulers were confused on the issue from the very beginning. He said the decision of operation would leave the tribal people in crisis as they have to migrate in this hot weather.

The JI leader also appealed the militants to come in the national mainstream and adopt the way of people’s power to achieve their aims instead of using power. He said that instead of confrontation with the state, the militants should play their role to save lives of the people of the area. He said it was their wish that the government would complete its tenure. He said unfortunately the central government did not fulfil its promises with the masses.
