RAWALPINDI - Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry  (RCCI) on Monday underlined the need for removing concerns of business community regarding withholding tax ratio, increase in poultry feed tax, powers given to officials of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and gas infrastructure development tax.    Addressing a meeting of traders and industrialists here, RCCI President  Dr Shimail Daud said the chamber has already conveyed its apprehensions to FBR and other quarters concerned in this regard.  RCCI Senior Vice President Malik Shahid Saleem, Vice President Muhammad Alam Chughtai and other members of the chamber were also present on the occasion.

RCCI, Dr Shimail said, and all business chambers have given unanimous suggestions to the government, which would be helpful in expanding the tax base, strengthening national economy and giving a boom to business activities in the country. He also suggested that the government should focus on direct taxes instead of indirect taxes as it would prove beneficial in achieving the fiscal targets set for the year 2014-15.

RCCI President was of the view that all stakeholders including traders and industrialists should be taken into confidence while formulating national economic plans to achieve the desired goals.

He said RCCI would extend all possible support to the government in its strides to expand tax base and strengthen national economy.
