RAWALPINDI - The Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) carried out various operations against drug mafia across the country and recovered 3.5 tons of narcotics besides arresting 20 persons and seizing four vehicles that were used in transporting the drugs, informed ANF Headquarters (HQ) spokesman on Tuesday. The value of recovered narcotics was Rs 6.117 billion in the international market, he said. According to him, ANF launched 16 operations in different parts of the country and recovered huge quantity of narcotics including 3216.7 kg Opium, 237.19 kg Heroin, 100.73 kg hashish and 600 gram Amphetamine.
He said that the operations also resulted in seizure of four vehicles and arrest of 20 persons including a foreigner. Most of the recovered drugs were intended to be dispatched to foreign destinations, he added.
He said that ANF Quetta carried out a successful intelligence led operation in Pishin and seized 3201 kg Opium and 224 kg Heroin from uninhabited hut in Pishin.
Similarly, ANF Rawalpindi Road Check Team acting upon information stopped a Suzuki Pickup (BC-1681) near Mullah Mansoor Toll Plaza, GT Road, Attock and recovered 84 kg Charas from secret cavities of the vehicle. Two drug peddlers were arrested, he informed.
In another operation, a white coloured Toyota Hiace (LES-1635) was stopped at GT Road, Attock and 11.25 kg hashish was recovered while four persons on-board were arrested. A bus was also checked during which 7.2 kg Opium was taken into custody, he said. More operations against drug peddlers resulted in recovery of 3.6 kg hashish, he said.
Meanwhile, ANF action against drug dealers in Karachi, Quetta, Lahore that resulted in recovery of huge quantity of narcotics, he said adding that separate cases have also been registered against the detainees with ANF police stations concerned whereas further investigation was on.
