ISLAMABAD - Senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Wednesday said that the ruckus in the National Assembly was an attack on the Parliamentary system of the country.
Addressing a Press conference here alongwith other senior leaders of the party including Rana Sanaullah and Ahsan Iqbal, he said the NA Speaker has failed to deliver. “He had already lost our trust and now has lost his government’s as well,” he added.
He said the PTI members abuse and throw books and don’t deserve such a system. He lashed out at Speaker Asad Qaiser, saying Ministers were using filthy language in front of him but he couldn’t do anything.
Commenting on the action taken by the Speaker against the legislators involved in disorderly behaviour a day earlier, Abbasi said, “I guarantee you, nothing will happen. Speaker will not take action against anyone and if action is taken, it would be against a few innocent people.” He asked Asad Qaiser to resign in protest if he can’t do anything.
He said Opposition was stopped from expressing its point of view in the National Assembly and the Ministers and Treasury members abused the Opposition members.
Demands Asad Qaiser’s resignation
“It is unprecedented,” he added. He was astonished to observe that the Treasury itself was involved in ruckus. He said the Leader of the Opposition was kept in NAB custody over one year and now, he added, a notice has been received by the FIA for the Leader of the Opposition.
He said the notice was part of the campaign against the Opposition leadership. He said Shehbaz Sharif has nothing to do with the sugar scam as he is not the director of a sugar mill.
He said the FIA is summoning the Leader of the Opposition during the budget session and added it’s an attempt to suppress the voice of the Opposition. He was astonished why the FIA didn’t summon PM Imran Khan and CM Punjab Usman Buzdar to investigate the sugar scam. The former Prime Minister said every Opposition leader is declared involved in money-laundering and added that even the Chairman NAB doesn’t know the definition of money-laundering. He said the Leader of the Opposition would not be allowed to discuss public issues in the National Assembly and what to talk about getting him justice.
