LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that corruption-free culture is being revived in the province after a break of ten years and misappropriation of funds of development projects has been completely eliminated. According to an official handout, the CM said this while talking to media at the inauguration of Lahore Ring Road Package-7 here on Tuesday. Commissioner Lahore Khusru Pervaiz, Incharge National Logistic Cell Lahore Sector Brig Shahid Majeed, senior officers of Nespak as well as other authorities concerned were also present. The Commissioner Lahore and Project Director Lahore Ring Road gave a detailed briefing regarding the project. The Chief Minister said that the standard of development projects in the Punjab was no less than that of developed countries. He said that the present government under the leadership of PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif had promoted the culture of work round the clock on development projects on the pattern of developed counties due to which after Lahore Ring Road Package-6, the Package-7 had also been completed in a record period of time. He congratulated the whole nation especially the people of the Punjab on the completion of the mega-project of Lahore Ring Road Package-7 transparently in a record period and said that this project was the gateway of Lahore. He said that Lahore Ring Road Package-7 would not only result in provision of modern transport facilities to Lahorites as well as to those travelling to and from the airport, but would also leave a far-reaching impact on the development of the province as the area around Ring Road would also become an urban area. Shahbaz said that billions of rupees were being spent on development projects in the province and the culture of horticulture and landscaping was also being promoted. He said that development projects of a high standard had been executed in less developed areas and the projects like Madr-e-Millat and Shaukat Ali roads were an example in this regard. He said that recreational parks for children would be developed on the vacant lands in front of Allama Iqbal International Airport. He said that delay and corruption in development projects had been rooted out. He said that third-party audit system had been made compulsory in all development projects, adding that no compromise was being made on quality of work. He said that development funds were looted ruthlessly under the last government and instead of implementation of the mega project of Lahore Ring Road, the land business around the project was promoted. The CM appreciated the performance of Members National and Provincial Assemblies, Sector Incharge NLC Brig. Shahid Majeed, Proejct Director Khusru Pervaiz and NESPAK authorities on the high standard of Lahore Ring Road Package-7. He said that after the completion of Lahore Ring Road Package-7, package-8, 9 and 10 of the project would soon be inaugurated. Referring to his address at Jamia Naeemia, the Chief Minister said that his comments were reported out of context. Earlier, the CM inaugurated Lahore Ring Road Package-7 and unveiled the inaugural plaque. Project Director informed that the project costing Rs.2 billion 95 crore and 84 lakh had been completed in a record period of seven months. He said that Package-7 has also been linked with Burki Road, Mall Road, Lahore Canal, Airport, Bhatta Chowk and Defence Housing scheme.
