Govt spends Rs130m on politicians treatment

QUETTA - More than Rs 130 million were spent on the treatment of 410 political personalities and government officials from the exchequer of Balochistan government during the financial year 2008-09, sources in Health Department told The Nation on Tuesday. According to sources, the provincial government had sent 10 persons abroad, including UK, resulting in an expenditure of Rs 65.62 million. Sources say the remaining, mostly govt officials, were referred to other provinces for receiving medical treatment at a cost of Rs64m. It is important to mention that over 50 per cent population of province is deprived of even the basic health facilities but a huge amount is being spent on political personalities and influential government officials.
