'Q' flays govt silence over Kabul River blockage

LAHORE - Senior Minister Punjab Raja Riaz instead of summoning All Parties Conference (APC) on water issue should inform the masses about the federal government policy regarding embankment of River Kabul by India and Afghanistan, says Ch Zaheer-ud-Din, Leader of the Opposition in Punjab Assembly. He expressed these views while commenting on the remarks of Senior Minister Punjab regarding calling an APC on water issue on Tuesday. He said 25 to 30 per cent water of River Sindh comes from River Kabul. Ch Zaheer said India had already blocked the water of River Indus and Chenab and now the New Delhi was providing funds and technical assistance to Afghanistan for constructing a dam on River Kabul. While, the federal government did not come up with a clear policy in this regard so far. Opposition Leader said that Chief Minister Punjab and Senior Minister have not only surrendered the rights of the province regarding water but they also never told the truth to the members of the provincial assembly in this regard.
