NPCC GM removed for loadshedding mismanagement


ISLAMABAD -

Minister for Water and Power Dr Musadik Malik Thursday removed General Manager, National Power Control Centre (NPCC), Rizwan Ahmed over his mismanagement regarding loadshedding in Gujranwala on Wednesday.
The minister visited 32 gird stations in Gujranwala on a surprise check and found 20 grid stations switched off. He immediately removed the General Manager NPCC over poor distribution of electricity. The task of General Manager NPCC was to plan equal and fair distribution of electricity. Rizwan Ahmad has been replaced by Muhammad Akhtar Chaurdhry, currently working as Chief Engineer NTDCL. Additional Chief Engineer Aftab Alam would work in place of Muhammad Akhtar Chaudhary for three months, or till further orders.
Meanwhile, Rizwan Ahmad has been asked to immediately report to WAPDA House for further posting.
The minister said that more electricity had been added to national grid by efficient distribution and production. He said that corruption and inefficiency were the biggest challenges in the power system.
