ISLAMABAD

Protesting against the dynastic political practices, President PML-Q Women Wing, Mrs Farrukh Khan, has ended her 12-year association with the party by tendering resignation from the party’s office and basic membership.

A source in Q-League told APP that Farrukh Khan, who had kept the party’s women active in drought period from 2007 to 2013, objected to the party leadership’s decision of naming close relatives on the reserved seats for women and when her protest was overlooked and close relatives of the party’s top brass were nominated and not a single woman was enlisted, she quietly tendered resignation.

It merits mentioning that PML-Q has put the name of Tanzeela Aamir Cheema, the daughter-in-law of Ch Anwar Ali Cheema, a close relative of Ch Pervez Elahi, at number one in its priority list of women reserved seats. Similarly, PML-Q Secretary General Mushahid Hussain Sayed had been successful in getting his wife Dushka Syed at number 2 of the women’s list reserved for national assembly, whereas Farrukh Mukhtar, the mother of business tycoon from Multan, Faisal Mukhtar, who is former district Nazim of Multan, had been put at number 3 in the priority list of Q-League while the women’s wing nominations had been totally ignored.

Farrukh Khan, the PML-Q women wing president for the past five years, had been placed at number 6 and there is a likelihood that she, being a party worker, would not be able to make it to the National Assembly despite the fact that Jayyeda Khalid, a niece of Ch Shujaat Hussain, has been placed at number five, the sources said.
