Islamabad - Ministry of Interior has installed 64 CCTV cameras in main parks of the Islamabad under Safe City Project and 60 out of them have been made operational.
These CCTV cameras have been installed as part of steps taken by the government to ensure safety of public parks in Islamabad, especially after tragic incident occurred at Gulshan Iqbal Park, Lahore. According to available break-up of installed CCTV cameras, a total 33 CCTV cameras in the area of Shakarparian/Pakistan Monument, five cameras in Fatima Jinnah Park F-9, ten in Lake View Park, five in Play Land/Zoo and 11 cameras in Shahdara View Point were installed.
Moreover, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have taken some measures for safety and security of citizens visiting parks with deployment of 04 police personnel in main parks and 03 personnel in small parks to watch the activities of suspected persons. The strength of 51 including 02 superintendents of police (SP), 04 ASPs/DSPs, 10 inspectors/others and 35 constables have been deployed for the security of major parks of the capital, besides other public places of the capital.
Falcon police patrolling vehicles with 01 officer and 02 constables have also been assigned to make frequent visits of parks aimed at protecting the citizens from any untoward incident.
After terrorist attacks at Bacha Khan University, Charsadda and Gulshan Iqbal Park, Lahore, security of soft targets i.e. schools/educational institutions was enhanced and special deployment was made during opening/closing hours of these institutions, according to the official data available to APP. Besides, the joint patrolling of Police/Pak Rangers is also being carried out to avert any untoward incident.
