Islamabad - A local court yesterday granted bail to former Chairman Senate Nayyar Bukhari and his son Jarar Shah in a case of thrashing a cop at the entry gate of F-8 District Courts.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Raja Asif Mehmood conducted hearing of the case and granted them bail against the surety bonds of Rs 100,000 each.

The judge accepted their bail pleas moved by Tariq Mehmood Jehangiri Advocate and Tayyab Shah Advocate.

Earlier, Judicial Magistrate Jawwad Hussain had issued arrest warrants of former Chairman Senate Nayyer Hussain Bukhari and his son Jarrar Bukhari after hearing a petition filed by Islamabad police.

The magistrate issued the arrest warrants of Bokhari and his son and ordered the police to arrest both the accused and present them before the court for slapping a policeman during checking in F-8.

According to details, investigation officer of the case had filed the petition in a local court for obtaining the arrest warrants of Nayyer Bukhari and his son.

Margalla police had registered the FIR against the former custodian of the upper house under sections 353/506/186/34 PPC on the complaint of Muhammad Riaz, a head constable of Special Branch Islamabad who was deployed at the entry point with other cops.

According to the police constable, he was deployed on duty outside the court and engaged in body search of people entering the premises when two people entered without body search. 

The policeman alleged that the former Senate chairman used profane language and verbally abused him when he asked to search him, while his son Jarrar Bukhari slapped him.

Later, police registered an FIR and initiated an investigation in this regard.
