Along with others, another unsolved mystery is the lack of incinerators in the country. The Government has totally turned a blind eye towards the issue and it is being dragged from years. As a result the hospitals are obviously not adopting proper methods to dispose their medical waste which is giving rise to contagious diseases like hepatitis. The incinerators present are running at their full capacity but its still not enough.

The Hospital Waste Management Rules made it obligatory for all and private hospitals to dispose off the hazardous waste using the incinerators but the Government had not done enough to implement the law. Private Hospitals can’t do it because it cost Rs 4G million which is more than full budget of many hospitals.

It should be the first priority of the government to install more incinerators to stop the spread of the infectious diseases.
