Rawalpindi - Secretary Agriculture Punjab, Muhammad Mahmood yesterday visited Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi and called on Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Rai Niaz Ahmad.

The VC briefed the secretary about the research and development activities of the university during the meeting which was also attended by the deans, directors and administrative staff.

On the occasion, the VC also gave future plan of the university, its development projects and research activities. He also informed that collaborative research and teaching programmes are being developed with the sister institutions for better teaching and research facilities for the students. He proposed promotion of raised bed technology for better crop and water productivity.

Secretary Mahmood said that Pakistan is facing agricultural productivity challenge due to lack of attention and resources and urged the scientists to develop innovative solutions for the betterment of small farmers. He appreciated that the university is training students to become job creators rather than job seekers. He also directed the senior members of the university to prepare a roadmap for their important suggestions.
