SC directs PM House to clear unpaid amount to Quetta church attack victims

Supreme Court (SC) has ordered PM house to ensure the payment of remaining compensation amount to the affectees of Quetta church attack.

A two-member bench of SC comprising of Justice Umer Ata Bandial and Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan took up the suo motto notice for hearing on Thursday.

At the inception of hearing, one of the members of Christian community told that Rs72 lac from the announced package of PM are less.

Why is it taking so long to release the compensation amount?” asked Justice Ahsan.

The deputy commissioner of Quetta informed the court that the compensation was delayed due to the delay in the medico-legal report.

“Does it take 5-months to prepare a medico-legal report?” the judges asked while adjourning the case until June.

Supreme Court ordered PM house to make sure the payment of remaining compensation amount.

A suicide attack targeting the Bethel Memorial Methodist Church on December 17, 2017 left at least nine people dead and 30 others injured.

Following the attack, both the federal and provincial governments had announced monetary compensation for the victims.
