LAHORE - Extra security personnel, rescuers and Elite Force commandos have been deployed at sensitive places in order to prevent any terrorist activity on Eidul Azha. About 10,000 policemen from investigation and operation wings and Elite Force commandos have taken the positions to protect mosques, imambargahs, parks and bazaars. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Rao Sardar Ali told TheNation that he issued strict directions to all the divisional SPs to remain on high alert in order to maintain peace and harmony during Eid holidays. According to plan, 12 SPs, 35 DSPs, 77 SHOs, Elite Force, mobile squads, motorcycles, Muhafiz Force officials and 10,000 lower ranked policemen have been ordered to perform duties on Eid. The policemen have also been deployed at rooftops of important buildings under the supervision of divisional SPs, who will personally oversee the deployment and patrolling of policemen. The crisis management centres will work round the clock while a special control room has also been established in the office of CCPO and DIG Operations for effective coordination between various security agencies. The security plans have also been discussed with the political leaders and businessmen to ensure the installation and proper functioning of security cameras at important business centres and markets in the Punjab capital. Moreover, the IG Punjab Tariq Saleem Dogar has also provided Elite Force commandos to avoid any untoward incident in the city. The Special Branch has been directed to coordinate with Lahore Police and immediately inform about any suspicious elements during the Eid holidays. Heavy police contingent have been deployed around Jamia Ashrafia, Qaddafi Stadium, Main Gate Aitchison College, Lala Zar Park, Walton Academy Ground, Shalimar Chowk, Bibi Pak Daman, Bilal Park Masjid, Badshahi Masjid, Chouburgi, Jahangir Tomb, Mian Meer Darbar, Masjid-e-Shuhda, Moon Market Gulshan-e-Ravi, Out Fall Road, Noor-ul-Islam Masjid, Rehmat-ul-Allalmin Park, Masjid Chowk Defence, Data Darbar, Model Town More, Minhaj-ul-Quran, Punjab Assembly, Mansoora, Central Station Rescue, Rescue Niaz Baig Station, Fortress Stadium, Shahdara Station, Wapda House, Masjid-e-Khizra, Moon Market Rescue Station, Jati Umra Raiwind, Liberty and Los Rescue Station. Following special directives of the Chief Traffic Office (CTO) SSP Syed Ahmed Mobin, additional contingent of traffic force have been deployed at various points to avoid traffic jam on different citys arteries. The CTO has cancelled holidays of traffic wardens including officers and circle in-charges. Three SPs will supervise a team of 13 DSPs, 90 inspectors, 2,900 wardens and eight special squads across the city on the first and second day of Eidul Azha. At least 13 DSPs, 45 inspectors and 1,450 wardens will also manage traffic at mosques, imambargahs besides open Eid congregation and recreation places on the first day of Eid. Moreover, 1,450 wardens, 45 inspectors and 13 DSPs will remain on duty under the supervision of three SPs on the second Eid day to ensure smooth traffic outside places and city roads. The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) has adopted comprehensive strategy across the province. Emergency vehicles have been deputed at all major Eid congregations and sensitive areas emergency staff to provide immediate pre-hospital emergency under the supervision of trained doctors. The Rescue staff is performing special duties in district control room, emergency rescue stations, 23 equipped emergency ambulances, 17 fire vehicles, one-rescue vehicles, two water rescue vehicle and a Disaster Rescue Team in the City.
