CM forms committee to probe falcon smuggling

LAHORE Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has formed a high level inquiry committee, headed by Additional Chief Secretary Muhammad Sami Saeed, to look into the delay and adopting unnecessary formalities by the Wildlife Department in taking action against the accused involved in the attempt to smuggle 53 falcons to Bahrain from Islamabad Airport. Member (Consolidation) Board of Revenue Sohail Aamir and Principal Police Training School Chung Maj (r) Mubashar Ullah are members of the committee. The inquiry committee will also probe why proper and timely measures were not taken for initiating legal action against the accused. The committee has been formed after the Wildlife Department had conducted a raid on Islamabad International Airport on Oct 15, 2010 and recovered 53 falcons, which were being smuggled to Bahrain.
