LAHORE - The Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) Tuesday announced that there would be no loadshedding anywhere in the country on the occasion of Eidul Azha. The company also claimed that the country faced no power outages during the past 24 hours, as the Pepco was able to generate the power according to the requirements. According to the companys statement, total generation during the last 24 hours was 11,517MW, which met the total demand. Pepco supplied 720MW to Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) to enable it to keep the city of some 20 million people properly lit. The hydel generation for last 24 hours was 5,650MW, thermal 1,881MW, IPPs and RPPs share stand at 3,956MW and 30MW respectively. Pepco spokesman Shafqat Jalil while talking to TheNation said that there was no gap between electricity demand and supply for the last 24 hours in the country and the same was expected on the Eid day. However, he said that in case of any fault in transmission system, consumers of the relevant area might have to face loadshedding. But, he said, the distribution companies had been directed to ensure that all units are working smoothly. Power outages have become order of the day and industrial units have been hit hard because of electricity and gas loadshedding.
