OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE - The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) realizing the need for modern logistics and to facilitate SMEs with efficient supply chain systems signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with IAL Logistics to offer warehouse to warehouse services for import and export to small and medium sized entrepreneurs and connect them with global destinations for speedy and smooth shipments of their cargo at competitive rates. President UNISAME said logistics is as important as banking, insurance and leasing and in the absence of supply chain logistics an entrepreneur cannot operate smoothly. He said logistics includes warehousing and collateral management and looking after complete movements of cargo satisfactorily from beginning till the end with the best affordable rates of the destinations involved. He expressed the need for smooth movement and efficient management of cargo as a good logistic company moves and manages cargo by arranging to receive and deliver cargo as well and acts as an intermediary between buyers and sellers under the modern system of advanced logistics. He said we intend to benefit from IAL as it has 5 offices in India and very efficient systems in Kandla, Kochi. Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi and now with the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status agreements between India and Pakistan the need for effective, efficient logistics is felt and the SMEs are looking forward to exports and imports from one another for effective shipments. The UNISAME team held a meeting with IAL Logistics Pakistan general manager (GM) Captain Atiq Siddiui, manager Arif Siddiqui and assistant manager Abdallah Rajabally to offer modern logistic services comprising of complete supply chain management for import and export, transportation, custom clearance, freight forwarding, air shipments and cargo handling services. Abdallah Rajabally assured the participants of best freight rates as he pointed out that it is essential that SMEs get the best freight rates for full and less than container loads to remain competitive in global markets.
