ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif telephoned Punjab Muhammad Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday and sought details and updates on the Rawalpindi incident.

The chief minister briefed the PM at length on the measures taken by the government to defuse the tension in the area.

He also apprised the PM that he and his team are monitoring the situation on minute-to-minute basis in consultation with the Pakistan Army, intelligence agencies and Ministry of Interior. The PM directed the CM that miscreants responsible for this incident should not be spared and that they must be defeated in their nefarious designs of creating discord in the society.
