ISLAMABAD - President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday expressed condolence over the sad demise of Dr. Tanvir Ahmed Khan, former Foreign Secretary, and lauded his diplomatic service for the country.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif termed his death a national loss, saying that the services of Dr. Khan in the realm of foreign policy and diplomacy would be remembered long.

The PM also prayed to the Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear the loss with fortitude. Dr Tanvir Khan's funeral prayer will be held today at 1330 (1:30 pm) hours at the H-8 graveyard Islamabd.

Dr. Tanvir passed away in Islamabad on Saturday. He was a former career diplomat and retired as the Foreign Secretary of Pakistan. He held various diplomatic offices during his long career.

He served as Ambassador in different countries. He was educated at Government College, Lahore and later continued his studies at Brasenose College, University of Oxford. At Oxford, Tanvir Ahmad Khan read English Literature - earning a BA Honours/MA.
