ISLAMABAD: The federal government has directed law enforcement institutions and intelligence agencies to keep a close watch on the activities of the Khateeb of Lal Masjid Maulana Abdul Aziz which could be a danger to law and order and sectarian violence.

The Interior Minister in a letter asked the civilian and military intelligence agencies that after announcement by Maulana Aziz for the launching of movement for enforcement of ‘Shariah’ he has started activities which could insight people from different walks of life to joint it.

The letter pointed out that the former Khateeb of Lal Masjid has a history of creating law and order in the federal capital. His acts could damage image of the country in the community of the nations and disturb law and order in the city.

According to BBC, earlier Jammia which functions under the supervision of Maulana Aziz have written a letter to Daesh leader Abu Baqar Al-Baghdadi requesting him to come to Pakistan and carry out his activities.

After this letter, Islamabad Police sent a note to the Ministry of Law and Justice for action against this women institution. The police officials, according to the BBC have not so far received any response from the Ministry.

Maulana Aziz has strongly criticized the Islamabad administration for withdrawing the security and not allowing him to have private security guard. Maulana Aziz’s name has been kept in the forth schedule of Anti-Terrorism Act which makes its mandatory for him to inform the police and district administration before leaving for any other city.
