LAHORE: Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday said that the government cannot stop National Accountability Bureau (NAB) if it wishes to operate against corruption in Punjab.

He expressed these views while talking to representatives of a private TV channel.

Shahbaz Sharif said that metro and Orange Line initiatives are ‘welfare’ projects. He vowed to present the people with leadership in local body (LB) polls that wishes to serve them. Local government bodies would be audited at least twice a year, once every six months, he added.

The CM said that there is no threat to democracy and democratic institutions as the government is delivering upon the promises. While talking about the big projects by the government in Lahore, the CM said that Metro Bus and Orange Line projects are fulfilling the purposes they were established for.

The CM also termed the successful collaboration between the government and Pakistan Army against terrorism a reason behind deterrence.
