LAHORE - The 1st Nayza National Junior Tennis Tournament commenced here at the Bage-e-Jinnah tennis courts under the aegis of Punjab Lawn Tennis Association (PLTA).
More than 150 kids from across the country have been participating in this mega junior event. PLTA secretory Rasheed Malik told the kids about their bright future with tennis saying, “Tennis is growing now days. A big number of participation of under 10, 12, 14, 18 kids shows that they are taking keen interest in the game and I am very hopeful about the future of Pakistan tennis.”
In U-18 age group qualifying round, Bilal Kabeer won against Usman Shoket 8-0, Hashim Gillani beat Behzad Shahid 9-7, Abdul Sami beat Sherhryar Sheraz 8-6, Bilal Zia won against Bhawal Ahmad 8-5, Ahmer beat Syed Dawar 8-4, Ahmad Kamil won against Zain Imran 8-3, Bilal Kabir beat Hashim Gillani 8-4, Jamal Shaikh beat Irfan Mugal 8-4, Mustafa Ali beat Kamil khan 8-2, Abdul Sami beat Bilal Zia 8-6, Arzam beat Ahmar 8-4, Ahmad Kamil beat Hamza Mairaj 8-0. All the winners have qualified for first round of main tournament.
In first round of matches, Fahad Ahmad beat Bilal Kabeer by 3-6, 7-6, 6-1, M Said won against Irtisham Saleem 6-0, 6-0, Yousaf Khan beat Hembel 2-6, 6-0, 6-3, Barkat ullah beat M Abdullah 6-0, 6-0, Farhan Ullah won against Arzam 6-4, 6-1, Sohaib Khan beat Izhar Iftikhar by 6-0, 6-3, Asad ullah beat Nalian Abbass 2-6, 6-2, Talha Bin Asif beat Atif Umer 6-3, 6-1, Aman Atiq Khan won against Ilham Khan 6-0, 6-3, Saqib Umer beat Asad ullah Khan 6-0, 6-0, Hafiz Arbab Ali beats Shehryar 6-2, 6-0 and Hamza bin Asif beat Saad Kamal 6-0, 6-0. All the winners of the first round have advanced to the next round.
