Commissioner wants foolproof arrangements at Chehlum

KARACHI (Staff Reporter):  – Commissioner Karachi Ijaz Ahmed Khan on Wednesday directed the concerned authorities to make foolproof security and municipal arrangements for the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).

He was presiding over a meeting here held to review security measures during majalis and processions on the eve of Chehlum. The meeting was attended by DIG, Deputy Commissioner, representatives of KMC, water board, K-Electric and clerics of the Shia community.

During the meeting, the commissioner Karachi said that security agencies needed to make foolproof security arrangements for the occasion, while civic authorities also needed to ensure cleanliness, proper sewerage system, traffic management, water supply and functional streetlights. The meeting decided that KE will exempt the city from loadshedding on the day.

The meeting also decided that deputy commissioners will remain in contact with clerics in their respective jurisdiction to resolve all issues.
