rawalpindi - Police have arrested four members of a gang involved in plundering shops during an action, police spokesman said yesterday.

Police have also recovered three pistols, a knife and three motorcycles from their possession. The arrested gang members were identified as Nasir, Khadim, Ghulam Hussain and Waseem, he added. 

According to him, City Police Officer (CPO) Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi, while taking notice of increasing incidents of dacoities at shops and plazas, formed a special team under the supervision of Station House Officer Police Station Sadiqabad to arrest the gang. Police team after hectic efforts managed to round up four members of the gang. Cases have been registered against the accused, he said.

He added during investigation, the detainees have confessed their involvement in more than 26 dacoity incidents in Sadiqabad and its suburbs.

He said police have obtained the physical remand of the gang members from a court of law and further investigation was underway. He said CPO Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi appreciated the service of police team for busting the dacoit gang.
