rawalpindi - Regional Police Officer (RPO), Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja, has directed the police to ensure foolproof security arrangements for Imambargahs on the occasion of ‘Chelum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS)’ in the region.
He also ordered police chief of Hassanabdal to provide maximums security to Sikh Yatris upon their arrival at Panja Sahib.
Acting Chief Traffic Officer Shahid Yousaf has also been directed to devise a strategy to control traffic in the city.
RPO issued these directions while addressing a crime meeting held at his office on yesterday. City Police Officer Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi, SSP (Operations) Irfan Tariq Khan, Acting CTO Shahid Yusaf, District Police Officer (DPO) Attock Zahid Nawaz Marwat, DPO Jhelum Hassan Asad Alvi and DPO Chakwal Munir Masood Marth also attended the meeting.
All the police officers briefed the regional police chief about crime ratio in their areas and districts.
Addressing the meeting, RPO Wisal Fakhar asked the police officers to enhance security of Imambargahs to protect the processions and Majalis on eve of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS).
The Sikh Yatris should also be provided adequate security upon their arrival in Panja Sahib, he said. He ordered police to launch a massive crackdown to arrest the proclaimed offenders and other hardcore criminals to reduce the crime ratio in the region. “All the investigation officers should solve the cases purely on merit and should avoid bow before any pressure during investigation. Prime responsibility of police is to guard lives and properties of public,” RPO said.
He said the dacoits involved in looting banks should also be arrested immediately. Taking notice of gigantic traffic jam in Rawalpindi, RPO asked acting CTO to prepare comprehensive traffic plan for smooth flow of traffic.
