LAHORE - Government is working on a secret agenda of usurping the independence of the judiciary but all its efforts would be failed, said Jamaat-i-Islami Secretary General Liaquat Baloch. In a press statement issued here on Saturday, he said the entire nation was behind the judiciary and JI would also play its role in safeguarding the law and the Constitution. Advising the rulers to behave sensibly, he said in case they did not, a fate worse than that of Gen Musharraf awaits them. He said corruption was at the climax and even ministers were involved in it. Baloch said Transparency International and some financial institutions were highlighting corruption in Pakistan, as a result of which the countrys image was tarnished at the international level. 'Confrontation with judiciary will destroy rulers Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Punjab Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar has warned the government that confrontation with the Supreme Court can lead to destroy the rulers. He also said that the government should respect the independent judiciary and avoid repeating the episode of Musharraf era. According to a press statement issued on Saturday, he said that the situation was worsening with every passing day in the country and the people would throw out the government, if the frustrated rulers tried to take any illegal action against the judiciary.
