LAHORE - Opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Zaheer-ud-Din has asked the government not to use Watan Cards for political gains issue these cards to the people who are declared flood affectees in the survey reports of the government. He demanded this while talking to 40-member delegation of flood affectees hailing from Bhakkar, Rajanpur, Mianwali and Muzaffargarh districts on Saturday. The delegation of flood affectees told him that they staged a sit-in at the Mall but no authority met them to ask about their problems. Zaheer assured them that, along with other members of the opposition, he would raise voice for the demands of flood affectees in Punjab Assemblys session on Monday (tomorrow). He demanded that the provincial government should fulfil its promise of providing fertilizers and seeds to the farmers of the flood-hit areas. Meanwhile, opposition members of the provincial assembly including Amna Ulfat, Seemal Kamran and Khadija Farooqi in a joint press statement claimed that PML-N was avoiding to hold local bodies polls due to fear of defeat.
