Ali Hai carries Pakistan hopes to Sri Lankan Amateur Golf

KARACHI - Pakistan's leading amateur star Ali Hai is carrying Pakistan hopes in the Sri Lankan Amateur Golf Championships which will be played at the historic Victoria Golf Club in Kandy from October 19-21. Ali Hai is part of Pakistans two member team which includes another promising player Hamza Amin son of Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF) secretary Taimur Hasan. The team is due to leave here on Monday morning for Colombo. Zafar Arbab is the manager of the team. Both the players earned the right to represent the country when they finished at the top of the leaderboard in the National Amateur Championships held in last April in Islamabad. Hamza clinched the national title while Hai finished runners-up. Hai, son of renowned tennis star of the yore Saeed Hai, would be making his second appearance in the championship. He first appeared in the event in 2008 and finished runners-up to local player Mithun Pereira by one stroke. Sri Lankan Amateur Championship is held annually at different venues and attracts top players from the region. It rotates between Kandy, Norelia and Colombo.
