Our Staff Reporter KHANEWAL - All Pakistan Newspapers Sellers (Hawkers) Association General Secretary Tikka Khan has said that newspapers seller are the linchpin of the print media and their role in this industry is well defined and recognised. He also vowed to continue struggle for upholding the prestige of the newspapers sellers (hawkers) in the society. He sated this while addressing a convention of Newspaper Seller Association (NSA) of south Punjab held here at the lawn of Yousaf Park in Khanewal the other day. Speaking on the occasion, Resident Editor Nawa-i-waqt Multan Shamim Asghar Rao stated that hawkers were the backbone of the newspapers and they play a pivotal role for the promotion of media shoulder-to-shoulder with the journalists in society. He also said that Nawa-i-Waqat group always honoured the services of newspapers sellers in the country and assured full cooperation on behalf of Editor-in-Chief Nawa-i-Waqt Group Majid Nizami. In his speech, Special Advisor to Prime Minister Sardar Ahmad Yar Hiraj promised that he would fight for the rights of newspaper sellers and would present a detailed report to the Prime Minister about the problems being faced by the newspaper sellers. He also promised that he would take up the issue of allocation of residential plots for hawkers from the quota of prime minister. Senior journalists and a large number of officer-bearers and members of newspapers sellers association from south Punjab attended the convention.
