OUR STAFF REPORTER OKARA - Armed men shot dead a youth for offering resistance during a robbery in the village 50/3.R here. Adnan Khichi along with his friends Tahir, Kali etc went out for outing. Suddenly, two robbers intercepted them. As soon as Adnan offered resistance, the robbers opened fire on him and fled away. Resultantly, he died on the spot. Taking the body into custody, the police have sent it to a hospital for post-mortem examination. 4 SUSPECTS HELD: Having conducted raids on different places, the Okara police arrested four suspected drug pushers including a and recovered a huge quantity of liquor and charas from their possession. On the special orders of the district police officer, the police took action against drug pushers and arrested Azran, a resident of Rasulpur Haveli Lakha and recovered 300 gram charas from her possession. Likewise, Ghulam Akbar and Ghulam Dastgir were arrested with 450 gram charas. The police arrested Khalid from 39/3R and seized 20 litre wine. From Shirjeel Kamran Shaheed Road, the police arrested Ashfaq and recovered 6 litres wine. ANTI-DENGUE STEPS ON: The Okara tehsil municipal officer has said the trained staff of the TMA was leaving no stone unturned to eradicate dengue mosquitoes. Javed Anwar Gondal said that the TMA workers had been imparted training by the health department experts to serve the people in a better way. He added that the TMA was working for eradication of Dengue mosquitoes on emergency and priority basis. Earlier, the TMO visited the places doubtful for breeding grounds for mosquitoes. He examined the drainage and sanitation systems.
