PMC, Navy play draw in Pakistan Premier League

RAWALPINDI Minnows PMC Ath Faisalabad held Navy to a goalless draw in a fixture of the Eighth Pakistan Premier Football League here at the Rawalpindi Municipal Stadium on Sunday. Navy started the match as strong favourites to win the particular tie against PMC as they were comprehensively beaten by other opponents in the earlier matches. But to the surprise of many PMC not only managed to restrict the far superior Navy side from scoring but they also created goal scoring chances and Navy was looking hapless against their strong play. Navy started slowly to keep the possession of the ball but PMC forwards took full advantage of the situation and created some lovely chances but due to lack of experience and poor finish wasted too many goal scoring chances. Navy boys were finding it too difficult to even keep hold of the ball but after settling down started to play more freely and created first real opportunity in the 40th minute but PMC defence cleared the ball of the line, as goal keeper was completely beaten. The first half ended 0-0 with PMC was the more dominating side during the entire half and keeps their much stronger opponents at bay. Navy team started the second half brightly as their forward line f begin to make moves. Navy boys up the tempo of the match and put PMC defence into panick but when it seems all is going wrong for PMC, their goalkeeper denied Navy numerous shots on goal with some fine diving saves. Navy were unable to break the strong and resilient PMC defence and had to settle for a goalless draw. The credit for holding Navy must be given to PMC defence and their goalie who displayed outstanding game under the bar.
