SADIQABAD - The leaders of various political parties including PPP, PML-F and PTI and the National People’s Party have sped up electioneering in Rahim Yar Khan and are making popularity claims in their public and corner meetings.

Talking to the party activists, PPP Sadiqabad office-bearers including tehsil president Arshad Javed said that their party had become a strong power across district Rahim Yar Khan under the leadership of President Zardari, Prime Minister Raja and PPP Punjab President Shahabuddin. He added that his party would get landslide in the forthcoming general elections.

They claimed all the conspiracies against the federal government had failed as the PPP-led government was going to complete the five-year tenure. They claimed that the people had rejected the other political parties including the PML-N and the PTI.

Addressing a largely attended public meeting, PML-F candidate for PP-296 Rana Tariq Mehmood said that his party was serving the public selflessly and without any discrimination. Even being out of power, the PML-F leadership had got 400 new transformers installed in Sadiqabad, the candidate said and added that facilities were being provided at the people’s doorsteps. He also said that the PPP and PML-N had failed completely. The ruling parties did not serve the people rightly thereby increasing the people’s problems, he said. He also urged the attendees to join hands with his party to make the country prosperous. 

He said that those do politics with the help of Qabza mafia, police and commission mafia had to face the music soon. The PML-F candidate said that though 65 years had passed since the establishment of Pakistan, yet Sadiqabad was still victim of deprivation and disappointment. 

Likewise, National People’s Party Senior Vice Chairman Syed Mir Fazal Elahi said that including both the ruling parties, all the political parties should act upon their promises regarding the restoration of Bahawalpur province. He was of the view that after the province’s restoration, not only the people’s problems would be resolved but also a new era of development and prosperity of the region would start. He said that the after the restoration, hundreds of thousands of youth would get employments and justice would be provided at the doorsteps of the people. He expressed the hope that under the leadership of Nawab Salahuddin, the restoration would be made soon and Insha’Allah the former status of Bahwalpur province would be restored.

On the other hand, PTI leader Sajjad Ahmad Warraich while addressing his party leaders at PP-296 said that under the leadership of Imran Khan, his party would bring patriotic youth in the forthcoming general elections. He said that the nation had got united under his party leadership. He was of the view that because of the “increasing popularity” of the PTI, the central and provincial rulers had got confused. Terming the PTI’s long march towards Waziristan successful, he said that the long march had showed that the people were united against the drone attacks.
