LAHORE – Brig (r) Dabeer Rizvi on Tuesday donated Rs1 million to the Government College University Endowment Fund Trust (GCUEFT) for initiating a golden scholarship in the name of his late father NA Rizvi.

Brig (r) Rizvi handed over a cheque of the amount to Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman at a graceful ceremony. GCUEFT Executive Committee Secretary Dr Khalid Manzoor Butt and noted businessman Mian Misbah were also present.

MENTAL HEALTH DAY: The Punjab University Centre for Clinical Psychology, Department of Applied Psychology and Pakistan Association of Clinical Psychologists are jointly celebrating the World Mental Health Day by organising a workshop titled ‘Depression – A Paradisiacal Hell’ at 10:00am on Wednesday at the Punjab University Undergraduate Study Centre, New Campus

FACULTY WORKSHOPS: The Punjab University Department of Library and Information Science organised two workshops on ‘Research Ethics, End Note and Turn Tin’. These workshops were designed specifically for the faculty members to facilitate them in conducting research. Forty-six faculty members from 25 teaching departments attended the workshop.

PHD DEGREES: The Punjab University has awarded four PhD degrees to scholars. Saira Malik was awarded PhD in the subject of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics after approval of her thesis titled ‘Molecular Characterisation of Cleft Lip with or Without Cleft Palate in Pakistan’; Ambreen Ahmed in the subject of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics after approval of her thesis titled ‘Efficacy of Bacterial Hormone in Plant Growth Promotion’; Zarqa Shaheen in the subject of Communication Studies after approval of her thesis titled ‘Role of Information and Communication Technologies in Bringing About Change among a Youngster’s Life: A Gender Perspective’; and Muhammad Amjad in the subject of Islamic Studies after approval of his thesis titled ‘Methodology of Muslim Jurists in Deriving Fiqhi Solutions from Sunnah’.
