Muneeb urges Mashaikh to help end terrorism

BUREWALA - Roet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Mufti Muneebur Rehman has urged the Ulema and Mashaikh to play their key role to eliminate terrorism from the society.
He was addressing Tahaffuze Haqooqe Ahle Sunnat Conference at Quaid-i-Azam Satdium, Burewala. Muneebur Rehman, who is also president of the Tanzeemul Mudaris Pakistan, said that the rulers from political dynasties like Gilani, Qureshi and Makhdom had done nothing to unite the nation and during their regimes the holy shrines of Muslim mystics and preachers had been attacked. He added that Maulana Hamid Saeed Kazmi, the former minister for religious affairs, had fallen victim to such elements and had to face imprisonment because of the wrongs done by others.
He also criticised Army Chief Ashfaq Pervez Kayani for not taking steps to block Nato supplies to Afghanistan through Pakistan. He condemned the anti-Islam movie made in the US. He mentioned that when Salala Checkpoint was attacked by the NATO forces, the Nato supply was suspended immediately.
Maulana Muhammad Yousuf Rizvi, Pir Muhammad Iqbal Shah, Syed Muhammad Mahfooz Mashadi, Qari Muhammad Shafiq Chishti among others also addressed the conference.
FARMERS FOR WITHDRAWAL OF TARIFF HIKE: Farmers have refused to pay elasticity bills because of increase in the power tariff. They demanded that the government should immediately restore May, 2012 rates.
“If Wapda officials tried to disconnect their power supply, they would be dealt with sternly,” warned the leaders of Pakistan Kisan Ittehad during a farmers’ convention held at College Ground.PKI Punjab President Khalid Mehmood Khokhar while addressing the convention said that farming was the most deprived sector in the country and big oppressors were sitting in the assemblies to rule them. He said that the people’s representatives were looting the national exequatur with both hands, adding that in the general elections only those who promise to safeguard the farmers’ interests would get victory.
He lamented over everyday increase in diesel, petrol and gas prices and said that the bills as per the new power tariff were unaffordable by the farmers.
He demanded that the government should immediately restore the former rates.  Rai Muhammad Tariq, District Vehari President Iftikhar Ahmad Chaudhry and District President Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajraan Muhammad Jameel Bhatti also addressed the convention.
