LAHORE - Special Assistant to Punjab CM on Food, Mansha Ullah Butt has said that Punjab has played an important role in stability of prices of rice, flour and sugar and no increase will be made in the prices of sugarcane and wheat in future as well. Provision of cheaper and quality flour is the top priority of Punjab govt, he added.He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony regarding World Food Day at Flour Mills Association Auditorium arranged by Punjab Food Department.He said that World Food Day is observed on Oct 16 and its purpose is to ensure availability of food to the people. Secretary Food informed that there is 4.2 million ton wheat stock with the department this year which is enough for the needs of the next year. He informed that Punjab Food Authority was set up last year and its scope will be extended to other districts of Punjab in the coming days. He said that Pakistan especially Punjab has been blessed with a number of bounties. Best fruit, vegetable, rice and sugarcane are produced in the country and there is no shortage of edible items. He said that Punjab CM has announced provision of incentives and loans to the farmers.
