LAKKI MARWAT – Police with the help of security forces thwarted a terror bid by defusing two explosive devices near Matora village on Bannu DI Khan Road on Tuesday. An official said that DPO Idrees Khan was informed about presence of suspected material near a patrol pump on busiest Bannu DI Khan portion of Indus Highway connecting Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with other three provinces.
“A contingent of police force reached the area and found ghee tin and a cement bag lying there”, he said.
He said that soldiers also rushed to the place to assist police to defuse bombs. “The law enforcers surrounded the area and called out personnel of bomb disposal squad to defuse explosives”, he maintained.
He said that the indigenously made bomb packed in cement bag weighed 10 kg while another 5 kg bomb was kept in ghee tin. He told that police beefed up security and increased patrolling on roads and highways in the district.
Meanwhile, a Pak army soldier Tayyab Khan who laid down his life in the line of duty in South Waziristan agency was laid to rest in the graveyard of his native village Masha Mansoor with full official honour. Civil and army officials, villagers and people from different walks of life attended his nimaz-e-janaza.
